S Club 7 To Keep Members Despite The Rules

Two members of S Club 7 have been saved from getting the axe by their new movie plans — despite being too old to stay in the band. The group’s web site states that no member can be over 23 years old, and Paul Cattermole and Tina Barrett are now both fast approaching 24.

But thanks to the band’s phenomenal success, and a movie that fans are eagerly awaiting, Paul says they’ve been allowed to bend the rules. He explains, “We wanted to keep the club young ‘coz it’s all about kids. But if you make the rules, you can break them, right?”

But Joel Andryc, executive vice president for kids’ programming and development at America’s FOX broadcast and cable networks who air the TV show, says “the ensemble format makes it easy enough to rotate one or two members out.”

However S Club 7 spokeswoman Charlotte Hickson says, “No they definitely won’t be leaving. They’ve got so much lined up for this year (2001) that their ages don’t matter.”
