‘Thrilled’ Rachel Stevens and husband Alex Bourne announce they are expecting their first child

She has had her fair share of relationship heartaches over the years.

However, Rachel Stevens is celebrating today after announcing she is pregnant.

The 32-year-old star – who married actor Alex Bourne last August – will welcome her first child into the world in November, her representative has confirmed.

Her spokesperson said: ‘We are delighted to announce that Rachel Stevens and her husband Alex are expecting their first baby later this year.

‘The happy news comes just a few months before the couple will celebrate their first wedding anniversary.’

The 32-year-old singer added: ‘We are thrilled and so excited about becoming parents.’

Earlier this week, Rachel admitted she thought it would be ‘amazing’ to have children with Alex.

She said: ‘We’d absolutely love to have children. I think having children is the most amazing thing.

‘I don’t think I can tell what kind of mum I’d be until I go through it. It’s such a life-changing thing.

‘But I do have a little niece and nephew so I can just about change a nappy. Alex would be a great dad – he’s very hands-on.’

The news is expected to delay Stevens’ plans for a pop comeback.

She has not released an album since 2005′s Come And Get It, but recently admitted that she was in the ‘early stages’ of recording a follow-up.

Miss Stevens first shot to fame as part of S Club 7, the band put together by Spice Girls Svengali Simon Fuller.

She then launched a relatively successful pop career securing hits with songs Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex, Some Girls and More More More.

But in recent years, she has become as well known for her looks as her music –with the star regularly featuring in Sexiest Women In The World lists in men’s magazines.

She also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2008, in which she came second with her partner Vincent Simone.

The singer and Bourne, also 32, married last August at Claridges’ Hotel in central London. However, none of her former S Club bandmates were invited to the ceremony.

She was previously engaged to former Hollyoaks actor Jeremy Edwards. He proposed on Valentine’s Day 2002 – but they broke up in 2004.

Afterwards, Miss Stevens dated Gavin Dean, the son of former Arsenal vice-chairman David. She was also linked to US actor Stephen Dorff.

She and Bourne started dating at the beginning of 2007 and he proposed in June 2008.

So life goes by fast, we all know that….I still youtube some of your tunes. I'm a 24 year old gal from Montreal and I speak french. S Club 7 helped me to learn english. It was such a good show with good tunes(sometimes cheezy but hey, I still need some S club cheeziness as I sometimes find myself singing "miss you" and "Natural" while driving or pouring some coffee in my cup) you guys always had such a positive energy! I like wanted to be part of the gang! You guys were there during my teenage dream/hell/first crush/first heartbreak moments. Now after all these years, I became a somewhat cynical part-time worker and broke grad student stressing out for her future as a geography teacher. But whenever I feel down and crappy in this crazy society, I just think to myself: REACH FOR THE STARS CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN HIGHER, REACH FOR THE STARS, FOLLOW YOUR HEART'S DESIRES!

I secretly hope for a comeback. I love you and thank you for letting me be a teenager again.
