Rachel Splits with Jeremy

Former S Club star Rachel Stevens has split with fiancee Jeremy Edwards after three years together.

In a joint statement, the couple said: “Sometimes things just don’t work out no matter how hard you try. We still care for each other and are great friends and although it is very sad, we know that our decision is the right one.”

The split follows months of speculation after the couple spent time apart as Stevens launched her solo career last year. Stevens, 25, was pictured without her engagement ring but the pair appeared to patch up their differences.

At the time, the couple denied their rocky patch was as a result of Stevens’ success as a solo artist and Edwards, 32, admitted that the break had coincided with a difficult time for him personally.

The Holby City star said in an interview that the death of co-star Laura Sadler, who fell to her death from a balcony at the tender age of 22, had affected him badly.

The couple patched up their differences but admitted their wedding plans were still on hold.

A spokeswoman for Stevens’ management company, 19 management, insisted the couple had tried to “work it out” saying: “Unfortunately, despite their efforts to remain together, they have decided to end their three-year relationship.”
