S Club 7 Kids’ Fury

Hundreds of children were heartbroken yesterday when they were turned away from auditions to perform with chart idols S Club 7.

The wannabe pop stars, some as young as eight, were told to go home as there was no time to see them perform their song and dance routines. More than 10,000 youngsters had converged on Wembley Conference Centre in North West London.

Auditions were for a “Junior S Club 7″ band to support the stars on three tour dates next February. But there were angry scenes as organisers shut the doors at 11am, saying they already had more than enough candidates.

Emma Coffill, 14, from Aylesbury, Bucks, said: “I ran all the way from the station but when I got here I was told they were taking no more entries.” A Centre spokesman said: “We apologise for the inconvenience. The response was phenomenal.”
