Biography

If you ask most of the guys on the planet, Rachel Stevens is something very special. After all, this talented actress and singer is consistently voted one of the world’s sexiest women. Try telling that to Rachel though and she blushes, “I’m very flattered by all the attention, but I honestly have exactly the same hang-ups as other girls.”

Born and raised in North-West London, Rachel beat 5,000 hopefuls to win a Just Seventeen magazine modelling contest, which led to a stint in fashion PR, before auditioning for S Club. “I always wanted to sing and act, so when I won a part in the group I was absolutely over the moon.”

One of Rachel’s major interests is fashion, although she’s quick to point out that she doesn’t just shop as people like to make out. “I don’t know where that image of me came from,” she laughs. “Of course I do like shopping – Jo’s just as bad as me – but it’s not like if I don’t get to the shops I become ill or anything!”

On the fashion-front though, Rachel always takes a very keen interest in the way the band look and says she’d even like to design some of their outfits one day. If she ever finds time, that is.

“Life can get pretty hectic with S Club,” she says. “We’re out of the country filming for three or four months of the year and then when we do get home we’re pretty much working non-stop promoting our singles or albums. Not that I’m complaining though – we’ve already achieved far more than I ever could have wished for. Just thinking about everything always brings a huge smile to my face.”
