The Quartet’s performance was music to the ears at the Ayr Music Club

The Ayr Music Club Music in Ayr, South Ayrshire concert series kicked off the new year with an outstanding recital by the Denman Street Quartet.

This ensemble of four highly skilled and experienced professional clarinetists entertained a large (socially distanced) audience.

The quartet (photo above) presented a varied and exciting musical program ranging from the 18th century to the present day.

A spokesperson for Ayr Music Club said: “Hearing a string quartet by Mendelssohn, an operatic overture by Mozart and Vivald’s famous ‘Springtime’ expertly performed by four clarinets was a delightfully fresh experience.

“The program also included Spanish and Latin American music by Albeniz and Piazzola, in which instruments of different sizes from the clarinet family combined to create the sensuous and atmospheric mood of Tango.

“Throughout the recital, the exceptional technique and rapport of the musicians provided the audience with a memorable and highly enjoyable musical evening.”

The next recital in the Music in Ayr series will take place on Saturday February 19 at Holy Trinity Church, Ayr, when guest artists will be the Solarek Piano Trio.
