WOKINGHAM Music Club has announced that a concert scheduled for tomorrow night will go ahead despite the Queen’s death.
The government has already issued guidelines to theaters and entertainment venues advising them that the show should go on throughout the mourning period.
Indeed, Funny Money’s opening night at The Mill at Sonning continued, with a minute’s silence before the show began.
And a performance by Simply Dan, a tribute to Steely Dan, will take place at the Winnersh Royal British Legion on Saturday.
In an email, Wokingham Music Club organizer Stan Hetherington said: ‘We will be holding a minute’s silence at 8pm.
“The decision to prosecute was made in consultation with the Royal British Legion and Simply Dan.”
However, a concert planned for this evening by the club, which would have been given by Curved Air, has been withdrawn.
Mr Hetherington said: ‘Tonight’s show with Curved Air is not taking place due to poor ticket sales.
“The cost of putting on shows is now at such a high level that for small clubs like ours we have to be very close to selling out or the artist simply won’t cover their costs.”
